"Energex awarded this project to Kane in March 2014 for the redevelopment of the existing Archerfield substation so that it complies with the Brisbane City Council’s Q200 flood level recommendations. The works incorporated multiple structures including a new control building as well as capacitor and transformer equipment platforms which now houses both new and relocated equipment from the existing substation. Buildability challenges included the construction of the new control building and over 3000 meters of electrical conduits in close proximity to existing live high voltage cabling." "The work for the substation involved bored piers, cast insitu and precast concrete together with structural steel. The building also includes detailed metalwork, concrete beam and penetration arrangements required to accommodate Energex equipment and associated cabling. The construction involved complex buildability challenges such as restricted site access, and works around live cables and equipment." Source: kane.com.au
